My story begins at age 11, when, after only having taken the overnight ferry to Newcastle, my mom finally took me on my very first flight, to Crete, Greece. That trip sparked something in me. I saw mountains for the first time, tasted food I haven’t had before and I couldn’t believe the color of the sea, so blue! It was the beginning of my lifelong love for travel and discovery.
In the years after that I went on a family vacation to France, Lyon and Dijon. I also went on a school trip to Berlin. And then, at 19, my first trip outside Europe, New York City with my mom. Wow, what an amazing city! “Mom, maybe when I am older I want to work in New York for 6 months or so.
After graduating, I first set off for Southeast Asia, spending two months exploring Thailand and Laos. Especially the Island Koh Tao stole my heart. After two weeks I hád to move on to the next place, otherwise I would have stayed forever. I found out that I like small and not touristy places the most.
Not long after, my mom moved to the Algarve in Portugal, and we began traveling together from Faro to Lagos. Our road trips even led her all the way to the place she now calls home; the South of Spain.
My first time seeing the Eiffel Tower!

My first solo trip
Since then, I’ve combined my visits to her with trips across Spain. From Marbella, Málaga, Almería and Valencia, to Ibiza, Mallorca, and Barcelona. Each place vibrants in its own way. I realized I’m happiest in places that buzz with life and are never far from the beach.
When I started working as an accountant, I went on my first ski trip with colleagues, to Austria. I was instantly hooked. Gliding through the clouds, standing high up on a real mountain, it was magical. Guess I love snow now too! I’ve returned almost every year since, even if just for the après-ski vibes.
Over the years, I kept exploring. I visited Berlin another time, wandered through London, went to France to soak in the Riviera sun of Nice, St. Tropez, Cannes and even went to Monaco. But one city stayed off my list far longer than expected: Paris..!
For years, I dreamed of going, it’s just a train ride from Amsterdam. I’d always hoped my then-partners would take me, but the more I asked, the less likely it seemed. Finally, for my 30th birthday, my two best friends surprised me with a weekend getaway to Paris! It was everything I had imagined.
I loved seeing the Eiffel Tower from everywhere and the Parisian breakfasts. That girls trip rekindled something in me. Travel wasn’t just about new places, it was about sharing moments, having meaningful experiences, and curating stories that stay with you forever.
I’ve been back to Paris two times already since then. The last time was with my current partner, who is American and I will tell you more about later on.

Besides that it was amazing to see the sun set over the desert, the futuristic skylines with the Burj Khalifa in the middle, and the beach clubs under the stars.
Later, I visited Jordan by myself. A journey I’ll never forget. I floated in the Dead Sea, explored the otherworldly landscape of Wadi Rum, and stood in awe before the ancient city of Petra.
Another trip, as a surprise for the friends who took me to Paris for the first time, came up. We went to Budapest, Hungary, and it was amazing!
Not long after, I went to another place that was highly on my wishlist; Italy. I went to a festival in Turin. After this it became clear that Italy was the country I dreamed of exploring more deeply.
I first want to tell you about my love for the Middle East too. There’s something about the region. The contrasts, the sand, the heat, the lifestyle, that kept drawing me in.
With a group of friends we traveled to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where we watched Max Verstappen win the Formula1 final.

We continued our trip by train to Cinque Terre, and I completely fell in love with Vernazza. its charm, its colors, the way the sea meets the cliffs. That evening, we had dinner in Portovenere, and I’ll never forget the view from the restaurant. For me there was true magic in that moment. We slept just outside La Spezia, on an olive farm run by a local olive oil producer. So of course, we couldn’t leave without taking a few bottles home!
The second week of our journey began just south of Pisa, where we stayed one night before heading inland to a goat farm in the hills. That stay was unforgettable. From the simple lunch we were served upon arrival to watching the sunset from a hammock, followed by a homemade dinner and a relaxing afternoon by the pool the next day, it was pure bliss. Noah still talks about it.
It reminded us that unforgettable experiences don’t always have to be luxurious, expensive, or modern. This place, where animals roamed freely and life moved slowly, gave us one of the most meaningful memories of our trip.
Next, before we flew back from Florence, it was Chianti’s turn to steal our hearts, especially mine, as a wine lover. The small, stone-walled villages we passed along the way each felt like a hidden gem, worth stopping for, wandering through, and tasting local life. We spent our final two nights in a charming country house bed & breakfast that felt like the essence of Chianti itself. peaceful, warm, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. After visiting several local winemakers and tasting their passion in every glass, I knew it: Chianti had officially dethroned Châteauneuf-du-Pape as my favorite wine region.
That dream came true when I met Noah, my current partner. He’s from Atlanta, Georgia, and moved to Amsterdam to study music. We met online, and what stood out to me was that he loved to travel and wanted someone to share that with.
6 months later we got invited to a wedding in Italy. He let me plan and book everything for a two-week road trip through Italy after that. The excitement I felt leading up to it was unreal!
It all began with the fairytale wedding of our Italian friend, held in a castle just outside Milan. It was Italy at its finest; romantic, atmospheric, and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. We stayed in a stunning villa nearby. The views, the peacefulness of the countryside, everything felt like a movie set. The area around the castle where the wedding was, was picture-perfect, with rolling hills, winding roads, and that golden Italian light.
After the wedding, Noah and I continued our journey south, making a stop at a family-owned winery before heading toward the coast. We passed through Genoa and Lido, following the most spectacular coastline. We wanted to stop everywhere, every village seemed more unique and beautiful than the last.
We spent a night in the hills above Portofino, surrounded by lush green mountains and views of the glittering sea in the distance. The next morning, on my birthday, we set off to the most beautiful resort I’ve ever stayed in. Perched above the Ligurian coast, it felt like a hidden paradise: eco-luxury cabins, panoramic sea views, and total serenity. Everything about that day felt magical.

So when Noah’s uncle Harvey, recently retired and ready to take a longer trip than usual, mentioned he wanted to visit Portugal, I jumped at the chance to help.
I helped him plan a two-week journey through the Algarve, told him all the ins and outs of the cities and islands he should visit.
He was so grateful and I was so inspired.
It made me realize I could really use my love for designing travel for others too. What’s better than tailoring experiences that feel effortless and are unforgettable. That’s how I decided to become a Personal Travel Designer!
That trip through Italy with Noah, seeing him so happy with the choices I’ve made and the places I had picked, confirmed just how much joy I get from planning meaningful, well-paced journeys. Not just for myself, but for others too.
Also seeing how differently Americans approach their trips, opened a new perspective for me.
